What are push notifications?
A push notification is a message sent from a server to an app on someone's device through the Apple Push Notification service (APNs). It can show an alert, play a sound or update the app's badge, even when the app is closed. The person has to allow notifications for the app first.
More about Push notifications
Sending them takes a server and a key from the Apple Developer Program. They are different from local notifications, which the app schedules on the phone itself and which need no server at all.
Push notifications with Borel
Apps built with Borel remind people with notifications the iPhone schedules itself: a daily check-in, a due date or a timer, delivered on time with no server involved. Describe when your app should remind someone, and Borel writes it in Swift.
