What is free provisioning with an Apple ID?
Free provisioning lets anyone with an ordinary Apple ID sign an app for their own iPhone, without paying for the Apple Developer Program. In Xcode it shows up as a personal team. Apple keeps it for personal use: apps signed this way expire after 7 days, and a device holds up to 3 of them at a time.
More about Free provisioning
Free provisioning can't publish to the App Store or use TestFlight, and some services, such as push notifications, iCloud and In-App Purchase, need the paid program. For a personal app that only you use, it is often all you need.
Free provisioning with Borel
On Pro, Borel Companion uses your free Apple ID to put the apps you build in Borel on your iPhone, with no developer account. A free Apple ID holds 3 of your apps, and Companion renews each one every 7 days while it runs. When you want the App Store, you can join the Developer Program later.
