What is the iOS Simulator?
The iOS Simulator is part of Xcode. It runs an iPhone or iPad app on a Mac, in a window that looks and behaves like the device, so developers can try an app without installing it on a phone. You click instead of tapping, and you can pick different iPhone models and iOS versions.
More about iOS Simulator
The Simulator runs the app's real code, so screens, navigation and saved data behave as they will on a phone. A few things need a real iPhone, such as the camera. Like Xcode, the Simulator only runs on a Mac.
