Your own Strong-style workout log on your iPhone

Strong is a quick gym log: pick an exercise, enter sets, reps and weight, and watch the numbers climb. If your training has its own logic, a fixed program, a rest rule, a way you measure progress, describe it to Borel. It writes a native workout log in Swift that you test in your browser and carry to the gym on your iPhone.

Updated . Borel isn’t connected to Strong.

A prompt to start from
“A gym log for my 4-day upper/lower program. Each day lists its exercises with target sets and reps; I log weight and reps per set, and the next session suggests 2.5 kg more when I hit every rep. A rest timer starts after each set and buzzes when it ends. A plate calculator shows plates per side for a 20 kg bar. Chart estimated one-rep max per lift.”

About Strong

What people like about Strong

In our words, from what Strong says about itself.

  • Supersets, custom exercises, RPE and a warm-up calculator.
  • Custom rest timers and measurements for each body part.
  • Charts of best sets and estimated one-rep max with Strong PRO.

Strong says its accounts are free forever and sells Strong PRO for the progress charts and more. Its site doesn't show the PRO price.

Made for you

What your own workout log can do

What the prompt above builds, and what you can change by asking Borel in plain words.

  • Your program, built in

An upper/lower split, a three-day full-body plan or your coach's program, with each session's weights worked out ahead.

  • Rest that runs itself

Logging a set starts the rest timer, and a firm haptic says when the next set is due.

  • Progress you define

Estimated one-rep max, weekly volume per muscle or simply heavier than last time, drawn as a chart.

  • Plates worked out

Type the target and the app shows which plates go on each side of the bar.

Said plainly

How it's different

  • It doesn't send workouts to the Health app or read your heart rate.
  • There's no Apple Watch app; you log sets on the phone.
  • The exercise list holds what you type or ask Borel to include, not a library with demonstration videos.
  • Your app isn't Strong and won't look or work like it: it has only what you ask Borel to build, and none of Strong's own content.
  • Your data stays in your own app: on your iPhone by default, or in your app's own database in Borel's cloud if you add accounts.

How to get yours

From the prompt to your home screen

  • 1

    Start from the prompt

Change anything in it first: names, rules, screens. Borel asks what it needs to know, then writes the app in Swift and SwiftUI.

  • 2

    Use it in your browser

It opens in a live iPhone simulator streamed from Borel's Mac, at no cost. Building starts free, with 5 free credits a day, up to 30 a month.

  • 3

    Keep it on your iPhone

With Pro, from $20 a month, Borel Companion installs it with a free Apple ID, up to 3 apps at a time, and renews each one every 7 days while it runs.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Describe your progression rule, such as add 2.5 kg after a session where every rep was done, and Borel builds it into the next workout.

Yes. Ask for a CSV export and Borel adds a button that writes every set to a file you can open in a spreadsheet.

Yes. Workouts are stored on the phone with SwiftData, so a basement gym makes no difference.

Yes. Ask for exercises to be paired as a superset, and the rest timer waits until both are logged.
